Founded in 1854, Cabourg very quickly became the favorite place of good Parisian society, delighted to come and take a dip in good company. Do you know the teurgoule ? This local specialty is a dessert made from rice infused with cinnamon, cooked for long hours in the oven. The teurgoule is usually accompanied by another local specialty, la faulte, a kind of local brioche. The enthusiasm for these delicacies is such that in 1978 the Brotherhood of Gastronomes of Teurgoule and Fallue from Normandy! Every year in October, its members organize a competition to reward the best recipe.

To taste it, you can go to the Houlgate market, or directly to local producers, such as the Bois Aulnay farm in Gonneville sur Mer. Special mention for the Sallenelles bakery which received the Teurgoule d'or in 2019.
