Every year, the Normandy Cabourg Pays d'Auge tourist office innovates to celebrate the famous April Fool's Day, with a bit of mischief and a lot of humor. In 2024, the office team did not deviate from tradition by launching a most surprising initiative: a fake online store with sweaters with humorous punchlines.

On the morning of 1er April, visitors to the tourist office's website and social media subscribers were able to discover the existence of a new online store entitled : The art of dressing Normandy.

Inspired by e-commerce sites, this new page promotes a range of (fake) new products to wear. In total, these are:

  • 7 sweaters
  • In the colors of the tourist office charter
  • Equipped with witty phrases linked to the territory
  • To promote it in a fun and offbeat way

The experience was extended to the order summary (via a dedicated form), always written in the same spirit of lightness.

The sweater, a product that shows interest

The work carried out around the sweaters aimed to:

  • Strengthen the sympathy capital of the tourist office
  • Building community loyalty
  • Develop visibility of the territory
  • Survey the interest of visitors and our communities in this type of product.

Each action carried out meets objectives.

Some key figures :

  • 10 people affected across all of our networks
  • More than 148 people took the time to respond to the form
  • 4 people drawn at random from among the participants to win 1 collector’s sweater!
  • 1 “Ferme ta teurgoule” sweater popular with the entire community

These initial results feed our thinking, with a view to deploying possible new economic levers for growth in the future.
