Summer has (already) come to an end. But the holidays maybe not. How to rekindle the memory of this summer's vacation without putting a dent in the budget? Head to Normandy and the Pays d'Auge, where the mild temperatures of the new school year will spoil you to enjoy a beautiful Indian summer.

Have you returned to work and are you already nostalgic for the summer holidays? Or do you just need to decompress for a weekend? We have listed, just for you, 3 activities to do (or redo) to experience an almost perfect Indian summer.

Activity #1: Enjoy the calm of our beaches

The start of the school year ? A little intense at times. Because yes, it can be difficult to get back into work after a well-deserved summer break. The advantage of Cabourg, Houlgate, Merville-Franceville-Plage and Varaville? Their large expanse of sand where you will only come across regulars every 100 meters (at least).

Take advantage of a crossword puzzle book, plan some board games and don't forget the book you haven't had time to finish (yet).

The little must of the Indian summer in Normandy: the pleasure of enjoying a sunset in good company!

And if not, what do we eat on the beach? Cockles, from Cabourg of course!

These funny chocolates contain amazing flavors (fleur de sel, caramel or even teurgoule). Easy to carry, they can be eaten everywhere, at any time of the day. The best (and most emblematic) are those of the “Saveurs de Normandie” brand — to be consumed (almost) without moderation.

Activity #2: Take a walk, by the sea and elsewhere

Here, the means of transport is up to you. Suitable for the whole family, these rejuvenating walks can be done on foot, by car or by bike, with great discoveries to be had.

A walking tour: the circuit of the Vaches Noires cliffs

Higher than 100 meters, the Black Cows cliffs extend over more than 4 kilometers between Houlgate and Villers-sur-Mer. Here, opt for a long walk at sunrise, to observe the pretty colors of the sky, or during the day, to capture all the beauty of the place.

A useful little note: don't forget to check the tide schedule before going on an expedition.

A cycle route: the Vélomaritime

Walk along the coast for several kilometres, and discover the seaside of Houlgate, Cabourg, Le Home-Varaville et Merville-Franceville-Plage. Ideal for gaining an overview of the surroundings, without relying on high-level sports performance.

A circuit by car: discovering the Cider Route

A tourist circuit of about forty kilometres, it criss-crosses the Pays d'Auge. Depart at Beuvron-en-Auge, one of the Most Beautiful Billages of France and meet no less than 20 producers. Cider, calvados, pommeau and perry are to be tasted all along the route: emblematic products of the region which can also be taken home, to prolong the experience.

A horseback ride by the sea?

Solo, two or more, discover the joys of trotting (or galloping for the bravest), observing the open sea. To take into account before organizing the day: the weather and low tide, while paying particular attention to the choice of outfit. Our list here

Activity #3: Observing nature

Notice to lovers of fauna and flora: this activity should delight you. Indeed, Normandy and the Pays d'Auge are full of wild animals to observe - such as birds, weasels, badgers, hedgehogs, deer, foxes or seals, to name a few. heading for the House of nature and the estuary, installed in the Orne estuary, a protected area in the Calvados department.

Aviary without a cage, this is where migratory birds settle. In particular, you can observe the Shelduck, a kind of giant duck with Harlequin plumage.

Here, nature is preserved: guaranteed breath of fresh air. And to observe nature from another point of view, while respecting the fauna and flora, rent paddles!
