The Grand Hôtel de Cabourg, under the spotlight

The Grand Hotel and art is a love story that has lasted over a century and that began with a writer dear to the heart of Cabourg.

Over time, this unbreakable link that connects the Grand Hôtel to literary art has grown, affecting the 7rd art. This is how the Grand Hotel found itself in numerous productions from 1977 to the present day. You may have seen it in La Dentelliere, by Claude Goretta , La Boum, by Claude Pinoteau, The Heart of Men 2, by Marc Esposito, Intouchables, by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache or in the web-series Groom, from Studio Bagel.

But that's not all, each year, the Grand Hôtel becomes the unique place of celebration where stars and young film prodigies parade on the red carpet, at the foot of the Grand Hôtel during the Cabourg Film Festival – Romantic Days.

A story that has lasted since 1907

But it began a little earlier… in 1861. At that time, a first luxury hotel was built next to the old Casino of Cabourg. It will be necessary to wait for the intervention of Lucien Viraut and Eugène Ernest Mauclerc, two architects, to see the Grand Hotel and the Casino as they are today.

It was finally on July 7, 1907 that the new Grand Hotel was inaugurated. At that moment, no one could have imagined that it was here that Marcel Proust would write the many pages of his work, In Search of Lost Time, which will become one of the most important works of the Belle Epoque.
